Pediatric dentists are the pediatricians of dentistry. In other words, they are experts in the field of children’s care.

Pediatric Dentistry requires additional years of training in a pediatric residency beyond general family dentistry. After completing dental school, pediatric dentists are further trained for the unique dental health needs of children. Although family dentists may have a general understanding of how to treat children’s teeth, pediatric dentists have obtained an expert level of knowledge regarding children’s health through rigorous advanced training.
Our specialized education consists of child psychology, behavior, growth and development, management of oral-facial trauma, sedation, general anesthesia, and much more. This specialized program of study and hands-on experience prepares pediatric dentists to meet the unique needs of young infants, children and adolescents, including persons with special health care needs.
